Since 2008, Sunday Streets has transformed San Francisco’s streets into car-free community spaces, bringing neighbors together for a day of connection, movement, and fun.
Sunday Streets is organized by Livable City, a non-profit helping to create a livable San Francisco for everyone! As a fellow community-oriented organization, we delight in partnering with Livable City to operate the ScoutZone at the Excelsior District's Sunday Street event.
By far the largest of the annual Sunday Streets events, the ~1 mile long closure of Mission St in the Excelsior District is host to Sunday Streets. With live music, dance performances, fun activities and TONS of food, this is a great way to explore the Excelsior District!
Each of our Packs, Troops, Ships, Clubs, Posts and Crews are invited to setup and run a fun activity for the public to enjoy. This gives our scouts a chance to meet their City neighbors, and for the 5,000-8,000 attendees to check out Scouting!
Ran a station for making lanyards
Brought their Pinewood Derby Track and example cars
Demonstrated Pioneering and Knot-Tying Skills

Put on performances
We look forward to seeing each of our units put on a fun activity! If you need ideas or have an idea you want to confirm before buying material, check in with Paul Lanzi (ggd.commissioner@gmail.com). Can't wait to see what each of our units is able to do!
Livable Cities also needs adult volunteers to assist with the street crossing stations and patrol the length of the Sunday Streets event. If you able to spare an hour or two, your help can be a HUGE boost to the event. Contact Paul Lanzi (ggd.commissioner@gmail.com) if you can help!
