Merit Badge Counselors: Council & Districts

A message from Andy Chen, Golden Gate District Advancement Chair.

Did you receive an email directing you to this page? If so, it probably means you signed up to be a Merit Badge Counselor with the Golden Gate District instead of your actual home District.

This happens frequently because the Golden Gate Area Council sounds a lot like the Golden Gate District. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME THING.

When registering for a Merit Badge, you probably saw this pull-down menu:

In fact, there was this warning message, and you checked you are in San Francisco or Daly City. Did you miss this part:

The Golden Gate DISTRICT is shown below... If you are OUTSIDE the green shaded area, you're NOT our District! 

To clarify, here is an organization chart of all the 16 Districts under the Council. Take a look. Where is your unit located?

WHAT NEXT?

1. YOU REALLY ARE IN SAN FRANCISCO/DALY CITY (Golden Gate District). Please reply to my email and let me know that you are, and we'll proceed with registration.

2. YOU ARE PART OF A DIFFERENT DISTRICT. If that's true, let me know and please return to the GGAC page where you registered for Merit Badge Counselor and try again. I do not have the ability to fix it for you. Select the correct District, and your District Advancement Chair will be notified. Good luck.
